Windows 10 Tutorial: Get Rid Of Check Boxes On Icons

Windows 10 has a real shoddy way of displaying check boxes on icons when you select them. This comes in handy in some cases, but more often than not, it is distracting.

More so, for users that are comfortable with how things were in the previous versions of the OS.

Luckily, Microsoft also provides an easy way to disable this.

To remove check boxes on icons, click Start and open File Explorer.

Then go to View, and Options.

In the box that appears, click the View tab.

Scroll down in the Advanced settings section, down to Use check boxes to select items, and untick it.

Then click OK, and the check boxes will now be removed.
