A screensaver is an image or animation that will come up on your screen when your computer is idling for a specific amount of time.
Screensavers were mostly famous back in the days of Windows XP. Most of us have forgotten that they even exist, or at least I did.

If you’re getting a bit of nostalgia, or if you simply like the idea of having a screensaver, here is how to enable one in Windows 10.
Turn On Screensaver – The Easy Way
Go to your Windows search bar and type “screen saver”. A result should pop up that says “Change screen saver.” Click on it.
Now, all you have to do is select the screensaver of your preference and how long your computer will idle before it kicks in.
Turn On Screensaver – The Slightly Harder Way
Go to Settings -> Personalization -> Lock screen -> Screen saver settings. At this point, all you have to do is repeat the same process.
Select the screensaver of your preference, set the idle time, and you’re all set.
How to Set your Photos as a Screensaver?
While you’re in your screensaver settings, open the drop-down menu and select “Photos.”
Now, you can change the location of your photos. It’s also possible to change the time that it takes for the slideshow to change the displayed image.
By default, Windows will use the “Pictures” folder for photo screensavers. You can see this taking effect in the above image with a screenshot from my BnS character.
You can change which folder your screensaver draws from by opening your screensaver changer and clicking on Screen Saver -> Photos -> Settings -> Browse, and selecting the folder where you’re holding your images.
You can also use an application from the MS Store called Screen Saver Gallery.
Screen Saver Gallery allows you to use pictures like screensavers from over 55 plus galleries/categories. They update the collection on a weekly basis.
But do keep in mind that it doesn’t launch automatically like your traditional screensaver. You need to launch it manually. The free version also displays ads.
Screensaver Location
You can find your screensavers at C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Windows\SysWOW64 if you’re using a 64-bit OS.
It should be possible to insert new screensavers there. We don’t advise messing around with Operating System files, though, unless you know what you’re doing and you have backups.
