One of the notable changes you can make is to customize the appearance of your mouse pointer. In this guide, we will demonstrate how you can change the color and size of the mouse pointer in Windows 10.
Let’s dive in!
How to Change the Size of a Mouse Pointer
There are two ways of modifying the mouse pointer size and color: via control panel or the PC settings option. The control panel method works for windows 7,8 and 10 while the PC settings method works for windows 8 and 10 only.
To customize your mouse pointer color and size, follow the steps outlined below
Click on the ‘Start‘ button and select the ‘Settings‘ option which is a gear icon as shown below
This opens the ‘Settings‘ Window with several customization options. Click on the ‘Ease of Access‘ option.
On the left Pane click on ‘Cursor and Pointer size‘ .On the right pane, in the ‘Change Pointer size and Color’, you will be presented with a slide bar that you can use to increase the size of your mouse pointer. Adjust it to suit your preferred mouse pointer size.
How to Change Mouse Pointer Color
Just below, you will find a ‘Change Pointer color section’ . Here you can change your pointer color to black, or even white.
If you’d like to add a splash of color to your mouse pointer, click on the far right button to open a list of suggested mouse pointer colors as shown below.
If you want to be more adventurous and try out a spectrum of colors, click on the plus [+] button below labeled ‘Pick a custom color‘ . This will pop open an RGB (Red Blue Green) / CMYK (Cyan Magenta Yellow Black) color palette with thousands of colors which you can choose from. Feel free to also play around with the Hexadecimal values to obtain your preferred color.
And that’s all we had in store for you. We do hope that this tutorial was beneficial in helping you to change the color and size of a mouse in Windows 10. Your feedback will be most welcome.
Hey, this is Margaret, a Windows Systems Administrator who’s in love with everything about tech.
My computer doesn’t have a color button for changing the color of the mouse pointer. I have the latest update for Windows 10 but this wasn’t included.
For we old goats that don’t see so well anymore this is one cool new feature. I was doing some multi windows tasks a few moments ago and kept losing the pointer. Not anymore!!! I just have to play with it a bit to determine the best usable size. Doing a text selection is easier too.
Thanks for the feedback, Murray. I’m glad you’ve found the new feature quite handy 🙂
Hi Chimp pointer options do not work do not have fourth colour button. Brian
Hey Brian, did you ensure that you have applied the May 2019 Windows 10 update?
Saw some suggestions if the color is not correct for your mouse/pointer. One link in the article went to a website that had public domain colors for cursors, too. also wondering if you have the most correct updated mouse drivers for your mouse pointer? Check with website for your mouse manufacturer.
