What's Bitdefender offline installer? Well, usually, you need to use a downloader tool from Bitdefender to install their program.
If for any reason, you happen to delete the program, then you'll have to download it all over again, megabyte by the megabyte.
And while that may not sound like a big deal to most of you, it's a huge deal breaker for those who have a slow connection.
It is the reason we're offering this offline installer.
Bitdefender offline installer is only available for the "Total Security" version of Bitdefender. If you are using "Internet Security" or "Antivirus Plus," then you're out of luck.
For other versions, you will have to go for web installer.
How to Install?
First of all, download either the 32-bit or the 64-bit version of the installer depending on the version of Windows that you're using.
Now, 64-bit operating systems can usually run 32-bit programs. But if you're using a 64-bit system, then it's recommended to download the 64-bit version of the program for the ultimate stability.
Before beginning the offline installation, remove any prior versions of Bitdefender that you have on your computer and disconnect from the Internet.
Now, you can proceed with the installation like you would typically do with any other program. After the installation completes, connect to the Internet again and log in to your account.
While using the Bitdefender offline installer, you might come upon an error which says "You must first install Bitdefender Agent to be able to install Bitdefender 2018!".
If that happens, install the official Bitdefender downloader, let it proceed with downloading Bitdefender for a few seconds, then cancel it.
To do that:
1. Re-connect to the Internet.
2. Login to Bitdefender Central and go to My Devices section.
3. Click on Install Bitdefender button to get the web installer.
At this point, the Bitdefender agent should be successfully installed. Now you have to disconnect from the Internet again and proceed with the installation offline.
32-Bit or 64-Bit?
As mentioned above, you must download the appropriate program for your operating system. 32-bit for a 32-bit system and 64-bit for a 64-bit system.
But now knowing what system you have can be an issue. The easiest way to find out is to go to Settings -> System -> About -> System Type!
That applies to Windows 10.
Is this Official?
Yes and no! Bitdefender doesn't officially offer an offline installer to the public. However, as you can see, these installers are taken straight out of Bitdefender's official servers.
So, while that installer doesn't officially exist by the company, it's still somehow available on their servers. Why? Your guess is as good as mine.
As a side note, do stay away from websites which offer Bitdefender from non-trustworthy servers as you never know if they are legitimate.
Downloading programs from non-trustworthy sources may result in you getting infected with malware, having additional programs installed against your will, and more.
Why Use an Offline Installer?
First of all, not all of us have a fast internet connection which can be an issue in such cases. Because if we need to re-install the program, then we'll have to start downloading again.
For example, I usually get 200 kilobytes per second. Sometimes my network drops down to 30-50 kilobytes per second.
Downloading half a gigabyte with these speeds can easily take you an hour or even more depending on your current speeds as they are not steady either.
Other than that, people who are trying out their new computer and operating system may have to re-install the program multiple times.
And what if you need to install it on multiple computers? Will you download the same package over and over again? Having an offline installer ready in such cases can prove to be a lifesaver.
