Windows 10 Tutorial: Create Another Desktop

Thankfully, desktop is the heart of Windows 10, with Microsoft focusing back on this tried and tested environment, after focusing heavily on the Modern UI in Windows 8.

The Start screen interface in this older version of the OS was quite disorienting.

There’s something like too much of a good thing, and the Start screen in Windows 8 was one such thing.

So, not only is the focus back on desktop in Windows 10, Microsoft actually makes it possible to create multiple desktops that can be switched between by using the Task View button, or via the Winkey + Tab keyboard shortcut.

This can be a very handy way to keep it organized while working.

For example, you can prevent your main desktop from being cluttered with browser screens or media players by positioning them on a different screen — even if you just have one monitor. It also makes it easier to manage if a program crashes. You can send it to another desktop, and close it.

Particularly useful for media players and other such software.

Anyway, to create another desktop, click the Task View button, and then click New desktop on the right, and Windows 10 will set up another desktop.

You can also create via the combination of Winkey + Tab keys, with the icon displayed at the bottom right corner of the screen.
