This tutorial will let you choose how Windows Updates are delivered in Windows 10.

Microsoft uses Windows Update feature to push critical security patches and feature updates to your system. If you have other Microsoft products installed on your system like Microsoft Office, Windows Update will also include updates for these products.

These updates are pushed over the Internet and you can also download them and install them offline if your system does not has Internet access. Windows Update settings let you choose if you want to download and install these updates automatically or do this manually as these updates can be big in size and will use your bandwidth.

Note: You must be signed in as administrator to make changes to update settings.

Choose How Windows Updates are Delivered in Windows 10:

  1. Open the Settings app, and click on the Update & security option.
  2. From the options on the left hand side, click on Windows Update.
  3. In the right side panel click on the Advanced options link.

  4. Click Yes if prompted by UAC.
  5. Click on the Choose how updates are delivered link.

  6. Click Yes if prompted by UAC.
  7. Turn the toggle to right to get the updates from more than one place (PC on local network or PC on local network plus Internet).
  8. Turn the toggle to left to stop getting the updates from more than one place (PC on local network or PC on local network plus Internet).
